We upgraded OnePlace again tonight. One of the benefits of web software is that we can improve the software as often as necessary with little to no impact to our customers. We took advantage of this benefit again tonight.
This release was almost entirely bug fixes. If you would like to see exactly what was fixed please see the release notes here.

A couple of bugs crept into last night's upgrade (7/7/09), so we decided to do a quick upgrade to take care of them. Details about these bugs can be found at:

http://help.oneplacehome.com/recentchanges#latestupgrade

We've had a few customers ask recently about what draft projects are. We wrote a blog entry about draft projects on this blog back in December of '08, so in case you missed that, here it is again:

http://blog.oneplacehome.com/archives/2008/12/22/featurespotlightdraftprojectsagain/

Finally, we're very interested to hear from our customers about what you would like to see added/changed in OnePlace to help people whose primary role is overseeing projects and reporting project progress. If you've got specific ideas in this area, we want to hear from you! Just use the "Contact Us" link in the upper right corner of OnePlace to send us your feedback.

We upgraded OnePlace tonight (7/7/09). We ran into an unexpected issue during the upgrade that caused the maintenance window to be about 2 hours longer than we planned. Everything is back up and running, and no data was lost. We sincerely apologize to anyone who was affected by the outage.

We upgraded OnePlace tonight (5/18/09) at 9:30pm CDT. This upgrade contains two enhancements requested recently by users:

  • If you are a member of a team account, you can now view and change your current status from any page within OnePlace. Your status is now displayed in the upper left hand corner of the page, right below the OnePlace logo. Please note that the "Sign Out" link has moved into the navigation menu in the upper right hand corner of the page.

  • We added the "Due Next Week" filter to all views that display tasks, including the Calendar, My Schedule tab of the Home page, and Tasks tab within a workplace. This filter was previously only available on the Deadlines tab of the Home page.

Please keep the great suggestions coming!

We upgraded OnePlace on 5/3/09. This upgrade contains some small enhancements requested by customers:

  • Added the ability to enter up to three custom fields on a task. These fields are useful if you have extra information you'd like to associate with a task. The custom fields are included when exporting tasks, and when generating a Task report.

  • Added a "project_manager" field to the task export file.

  • Added the ability for team account administrators to re-send activation emails to people they added to the team account.

We upgraded OnePlace once again on 4/25/09 to slip in one more sweet feature that didn't make the 4/23 upgrade:

  • Interact with Discussions via Email - This feature has been asked for by a number of people. You can now configure OnePlace to email you whenever another user posts a message in any of the discussions you are participating in. You can reply to the email, and your new message is added to the discussion! This makes it even easier to participate in your discussions. To learn more about this new feature, please view the Email & Discussions section in the online help.

  • Email Integration Update - As part of the discussion email addition, we shortened the length of the incoming email addresses. The first part of the email address that identifies the user was 64 characters, which was quite long. We changed this to be just 6 characters long. If you are already using this feature, the longer email addresses still work, and if you're ok with the existing email addresses, there's nothing you need to do. However, if you would like to have the shorter email addresses (we don't blame you), you can get them by performing the following steps:

  1. Edit your preferences.
  2. Disable incoming email.
  3. Save your preferences.
  4. Edit your preferences again.
  5. Re-enable incoming email.
  6. Save your preferences again.

For full details of what's included in this upgrade, please view the Recent Changes in the online help.

We upgraded OnePlace on 4/23/09, and the upgrade includes a couple of nice enhancements that we hope everyone likes:

  • Workplace Report - If you've ever wanted to get a report for an entire workplace, then you will be happy with this new feature. You can now create a report, similar to the project report, for an entire workplace. One of the cool things with this report, is that it tells you what % complete each of your projects are in that workplace. You can access this report from the Workplace tab on the home page or from the Workplace Dashboard. To learn more about this new feature, please view the Reports section in the online help.

  • Global Discussions - Team accounts can now create discussions that anyone in the account can participate in. These discussions don't belong to a workplace, and are visible to all account members. It's a great way to hold topical discussions without having to add everyone to a workplace. To learn more about this new feature, please view the Discussions section in the online help.

  • As usual, there are several other smaller enhancements, changes and bug fixes in this upgrade. For full details of what's included in this upgrade, please view the Recent Changes in the online help.

We also made some changes to the packages and pricing for OnePlace. The good news is that we are not changing the price for existing users at this time.

We enjoy hearing from our users about how we're doing. Feel free to use the "Contact Us" link in the upper right hand corner of OnePlace to send us your feedback. Also, don't forget about the forum (link right next to the Contact Us). It's another great resource for getting help with using OnePlace.

We have some exciting news! We have started adding instructional videos to the Help section. This has been long overdue and requested by just about everyone that we have talked to. There are two types of videos: 1) Overviews that walk through PowerPoint presentations to provide overall context of OnePlace design in terms of how to navigate, structure, and communicate within OnePlace; and 2) Feature-specific demonstrations of OnePlace usage.

You can watch them here:

You can see from the Video page in Help that we have plans for many more videos. We are busy creating them right now. So please check back often for new videos. We will send updates as we publish them.

We upgraded OnePlace tonight (3/9/09) to squash a couple of bugs that snuck past our testers during the previous upgrade. The bugs are listed below:

  • Fixed a crash on the Received tab of the inbasket when the page automatically refreshes, and there are no received inbasket notes.
  • Fixed a crash on the 'All Tasks' tab of the Home page when you set the filter to 'Scheduled for' and the group by to 'Updated on'.

Neither bug resulted in loss of data. Our apologies if you experienced these issues.

Thanks, The OnePlace Team

Hello,

We upgraded OnePlace on 3/8/09 at 9:00pm CDT.

This upgrade is comprised of just about 100% customer-requested features and enhancements. The highlights include:

  • Project Enhancements - We added a start date, project manager and priority for projects.

  • Daily Update Email - You can now configure OnePlace to send you an email with your scheduled tasks for the day, and also the Projects and Tasks that have a deadline in the next seven days.

  • Configurable System Notifications - You can now configure which system notifications you will receive. An example of a system notification is the inbasket note/email you receive when someone assigns you to a task.

  • Inbasket Enhancements - We spent quite a bit of time improving the inbasket. OnePlace now allows you to see what inbasket notes you have sent to others. We also added additional actions that you can perform on the inbasket, such as marking all the inbasket notes as read, or emptying your inbasket with a single click.

The list goes on and on, so please check out the rest of the enhancements and bug fixes in the Recent Changes section of the Online Help.

Don't forget to check out the OnePlace forum. It is a great place to interact with other OnePlace users. Feel free to ask questions or just share a tip or idea for OnePlace. It is a resource for you.

Please keep the suggestions coming!

Thanks, The OnePlace Team

Hello,

We upgraded OnePlace on 2/15/09 at 9:00pm CST.

We are excited to announce the OnePlace Dashboard. This is a desktop client that allows you to use Team Pulse without having to open up your browser. It has a very useful notification feature that informs you of a new Pulses via a popup notification window. You may have already seen the advertisement for it in Team Central. You can read more about it in the online Help.

One other change that we want to make you aware of is how we updated Time Tracking for Tasks. When you are tracking time for a task and set the status to In Progress, OnePlace will automatically start a timer. Then when you complete the task you will be prompted to apply the elapsed time to the task. There's no need to manually keep track of time for tasks. You can read more about it in the online Help.

Check out the rest of the enhancements and bug fixes in the Recent changes section of the online Help.

TAH-DAH! We completed another upgrade to OnePlace™ over the weekend! To be precise, it happened on 12/21/08 at 7:30am CST. As you know, we push updates to OnePlace™ approximately once a week—and, in some recent weeks, we've done it even more often that that. We love listening to our customers!

What's the major addition this time? A OnePlace™ "Customer Forum"! It gives you a convenient way to communicate not only with the OnePlace team, but with other OnePlace™ customers as well! Check out this new feature today by simply clicking on the 'Forum' link in the upper righthand corner of your OnePlace™ screen. Or, you can visit the forum directly by going to the following url: http://forum.oneplacehome.com.

When we say the OnePlace™ team is ever-vigilant, folks, we're not just a whistlin' Dixie. The dedicated development team here at OnePlace's worldwide headquarters (half buried in snow here in suburban Minneapolis), never rests—constantly stretching their minds for new ways they can make your favorite software better. They never let up in their quest to help you take maximum advantage of OnePlace to boost your team's productivity. Not only did they push an update on December 8, but dog-gone if they didn't follow that with yet another one on December 10! Here's what these two updates included...

One thing we can say about our crack development team, they are ever-vigilant. They upgraded OnePlace™ again on 11/23/08 at 7:30am CST—even though it's been less than a week since the last upgrade! The OnePlace™ team added several enhancements that have been requested by nearly everyone. Here are the highlights of this latest upgrade:

• Project "Save As" - Now you can make a copy of a project!
• List "Save As" - Make as many copies of a list as you want.
• New Bookmarks List type - Share your bookmarks with your teammates, or just keep all your favorite bookmarks in one place.
• Export Tasks preview - If you're using the Export Tasks capability, then you will love this new capability.
• TeamPulse filter update - There are now separate settings for determining: 1) who you're pulsing to, and 2) which pulses do you want to see?

That last feature will strike a chord with Twitter users! (It's part of our recently announced TeamCentral capability.) First, you can actually select who you want following you (something you can't do in Twitter). Secondly, you can select which of your team members you want to follow (same as in Twitter)—so that you're sure to see all their ongoing updates, or "pulses" as we say in OnePlace™ lingo. Best of all, it's easy for you to adjust either of these selections anytime via this TeamPulse "filter."

In case you haven't noticed yet, we upgraded OnePlace™ yesterday (11/16/08) at 10:45pm CST. It's been nearly two weeks since our last upgrade, but we're sure that, once you see what's in this upgrade, you'll agree the wait was worth it! Here are some highlights:

The recently announced "TeamCentral" feature just got B-I-G-G-E-R and better! We added two more functions we call TeamSchedule and TeamActivities. (If you're keeping count, that's three functions with TeamPulse!) TeamSchedule is a view into the upcoming work for your team, letting you know what things your teammates have planned. It supports lots of different timeframes, so you can see work that's scheduled for yesterday, today, tomorrow, this week, next week, etc. TeamActivities allows you to see the trail of work that your teammates leave as they work throughout the day. That means you no longer have to guess at what work has been completed. We also enhanced TeamPulse to allow you to direct your pulses. You can pulse to everyone you collaborate with, to a select team (i.e., a Workplace), or to just a single individual. You pulse, and we keep track of it all! (If you're a Twitter fan, remember that pulse=tweet (or update)... but one big difference is that OnePlace™ does automatic, system-generated pulses/updates as well!)
