Selling Collaboration To Your Boss

So, you think it’s time to implement a new collaboration solution. Great! We think it’s time too. Business collaboration can bring about many benefits, and really connect teams.

If you know all that, you’ve just got to get your boss’s approval to move forward with the implementation of your new solution. This may sound easier than it actually is. A lot of times, supervisors know they want a new solution, but they aren’t sure how to put it in place, or aren’t willing to take the time to figure it out and understand it.

If this is what you’re up against, you need to go in with a game plan. Here is how you can sell business collaboration to your boss so they want to move forward with it.

Lead With The Benefits
Bosses like benefits. What can this change do for me? How will it improve and positively impact our business? If you can show the benefits of implementing collaboration, you’ll gain their attention and make them more open to moving forward.

Outline a Testing and Adoption Schedule
Let your boss know that you’ve put some thought into the process, and show him or her your testing and adoption schedule. Make sure to schedule some time to research and test out different solutions, to present the options to your team and to begin adopting the new solution into your business. Your boss will like your forethought and appreciate you for making these plans.

Choose an Execution Team
Take a look at your coworkers and identify those who should be testing and learning the new solutions with you. Then, this team will work together to push the plan forward. Let your boss know who is on the team, and who to come to with questions. Your boss can then sit back and watch you take control for your company.

Once your boss knows the details, and knows that you’ve thought through the implementation plan, they will be more likely to sign off on the idea and let you move forward. You can then take those first crucial steps to moving your business into the efficient and effective world of collaboration.
