More Ways to Improve Client Collaboration

Posted by Dana Larson on August 31, 2010

A few weeks ago, we featured a post identifying ways to increase client collaboration, and improve the communication and workflow channels you have with your clients. This is a huge area of importance for many service-based companies out there, and being able to better connect with clients can mean the different between a successful engagement and a client failure.

In our previous post, we discussed how online discussions, file collaboration and status reports can help increase client collaboration. By using these tools inside a business organization solution, you’ll be opening the doors to more effective communication with your clients.

Once that collaboration is happening, you will probably want to make it the best it can be. Here are a few ways to improve upon that collaboration for your clients.

Excite Them
When encouraging your client to begin using your collaboration solution to communicate and work with your team, it’s important to get them excited about using it. They need to understand the benefits, and know that it will definitely improve collaboration between your two businesses. Then, every time they use it, give them a pat on the back to keep them excited about the process.

Inspire Them
If they aren’t sure how to get started using your collaboration solution, inspire them. Show them how you are using it in your company, and tell them in detail how greatly it has impacted your productivity and communication in the office. They will love hearing of your success, and will want that success themselves.

Make It Easy
Try to already have a workplace set up for your client, and make sure their on-boarding process is as simple as possible. Also, try to offer training for your collaboration solution so they are aware of its functionality and will be able to use it in the way you’d like.

Make It Mandatory
When signing a new client, state in their agreement that use of your collaboration solution is necessary, and will be the central portal for all communication and documentation pertaining to the work of the program. This way, they know what to expect, and they know how to communicate with your team.

When you have more and more of your clients integrated directly into your business collaboration solution, you’ll see a greater impact on the productivity and communication happening in your office. You’re team will be working hard and your clients will be happy with the results.
