Did You Know? - Personal Accounts

Welcome to the inaugural "Did You Know", a series we plan to do from time to time about various things in OnePlace that you may not know about. Today's article focuses on your personal account within OnePlace.
Most users get introduced to OnePlace via a team that they belong to. Usually this is a team at work, however it could also be a team within a charity or non-profit, a team within a church, a common interest group, etc. These users most likely did not sign up for OnePlace directly - they were added to an existing team account. Perhaps you fall into this category. But did you know, that when you were added to your team account in OnePlace, you were automatically given a personal account at the same time?
Your personal account is owned by you, not your team. By default, only you have access to the information in your personal account. Your team account cannot see or access anything in your personal account. Through workplace sharing, you do have the ability to share information in your personal account, if you so choose. I use workplace sharing with my wife, who has her own personal OnePlace account. I created a "Family" workplace in my account, and added her to this workplace. We use this workplace to share stuff like a family grocery list, a family calendar of events, and tasks and projects we have going on at home. This workplace is side-by-side in OnePlace with all my work-related workplaces, but only my wife and I know about it.
You can create all the same kinds of things in your personal account that you can create in the team account - projects, tasks, files, lists, notes, discussions and calendar events. OnePlace will present the information in both your personal and your team accounts to you in one, blended view.
Inside your personal account is also a private or personal workplace that was created at the time your personal account was created (and you can't trash it). Because you are the only person who can ever access information in the private workplace, this is the spot to put your super-secret stuff. Lastly, one other really nice aspect of your personal account, is that you get to keep it, even if you leave the team account. This can happen for example when you take a different job. When the team account admin removes you from the team account, you instantly lose access to all the data owned by that team account. However, you don't lose access to the stuff in your personal account. That's yours for as long as you want it. And, if you join another company and they start using OnePlace, you can simply attach your personal account to that team account, and you're good to go again.
So, if you haven't yet taken advantage of the benefits of your personal OnePlace account, why not think of some ways OnePlace could benefit you and your family in your personal life. Time doesn't stop when you leave work - so why should your collaboration and work management solution?
