5 Ways to Spring Clean Your Way To Better Organization

Posted by Dana Larson on April 06, 2010

Yellow Spring Flower Spring has sprung! The time has come for winter clothes to be packed away, flower gardens to be planted and sunscreen to be purchased.

And along with Spring comes Spring Cleaning - the annual event of cleaning out the mess you’ve stored over the winter and starting fresh with a clean house... and a clean office!

Here are 5 tips for Spring Cleaning your work to get you more organized!

1. Less Is More
Take this time to clean up your desk and your computer desktop. Throw away the old sticky notes and water bottles. Move documents into appropriate folders. Give yourself a clean workspace to come to every day so you can focus more on getting things done rather than worrying about the mess on your desk.

2. Clean Out Your Inbox
We’ve all got emails in our inboxes that date back years and years. Go through your inbox, move emails to folders and subfolders for storage and start fresh. You’ll be surprised by how empowered you feel with a clean, organized inbox.

3. Organize Your Projects
Review all projects that are currently in progress in your company, and familiarize yourself with the status of those projects again. If you’re not utilizing an online project management solution, now is the time to start. You’ll love how organized your projects and tasks become with the right tools.

4. Hold An All Team Status Meeting
Gather everyone on your team together for a review of Q1, and a status of Q2. This will ensure everyone on the team is on the same page as you roll into the spring projects.

5. Create a Spring Action Plan
Write down the objectives you hope to accomplish before Summer arrives, and the steps needed to get there. Share this plan with everyone on your team so everyone is working hard toward the Spring goals. This will eliminate undue confusion and questions in later months and keep all projects on track.

With an organized office, organized projects and an organized team, you’ll feel rejuvenated or Spring and ready to tackle anything! Use the sunshine as a motivator to stay positive and organized at work for a more successful Spring.
