Improve Your Team Communications

Posted by Denis Ahearn on April 21, 2010

One of the gems in the OnePlace "toolbox" is the OnePlace Dashboard, a separate application that you install on your computer, which provides you with all functionality of the Team Pulse feature that's built into OnePlace. The OnePlace Dashboard is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux.

If you don't know what Team Pulse is, think of it as a way for you to keep your finger on the pulse of your team. Team Pulse allows you to communicate with the people you are connected to in OnePlace, either directly (person to person), or as a broadcast (person to group). Team Pulse also keeps you informed of when someone starts or completes a task, so it becomes much easier for you to stay on top of what others are working on.

When a new message (pulse) arrives, the OnePlace Dashboard sounds an alert, and then pops up a little notification balloon in the upper right of your screen so that you can see what the message says.

We use the OnePlace Dashboard heavily here at OnePlace. Each OnePlace team member has it installed on their computer and leaves it running throughout the day. We use it as our instant messaging tool. It also helps reduce the need to hold status meetings, since we can see what everyone else is doing.
