Up, Up with People!

PeopleIn case you hadn't noticed yet, our mission at OnePlace is to make your business successful, by making the people within your business successful. Hence our mantra "Successful People, Successful Business". Last week we rolled out a new feature that supports this mission, by helping people connect and share with one another in OnePlace. Dubbed the "People" mode, this feature provides a place where someone can go to see the other people that he/she is connected to, and to interact with these people in different ways.

Accessing the new People mode is simple. There's a new People icon in the toolbar at the top of every page. You can't miss it. No matter where you are in OnePlace, you can get to this feature with a single click of the mouse. Or if you prefer using keyboard shortcuts, you can also press the "l" key in most places within OnePlace to accomplish the same thing.

The People mode is actually two separate pages - the People page and the Person page.

People Page

The People page gives you a birds-eye view of the people that share OnePlace with you. It's made up of three views. The Everyone view shows all the people you are connected to in some way within OnePlace. The second view (labeled Tigris Technologies Teammates in the example below) shows the people just in your team account. The Workplace Teammates view shows the people you share workplaces with, and provides the ability to zero in on teammates from a single workplace. Each of these views groups people by the account they belong to. A quick way to interact with someone on this page is to hover over or click on the Actions icon underneath that person's name. A panel will pop up containing details about that person, along with a set of actions you can use for interacting with that person.

Person Page

The Person page focuses on a single person/teammate. To get to this page, just click on a person's picture or name on the People page. You can also get to this page from other areas within OnePlace by doing the same thing (click on someone's picture or name). The top half of this page gives you lots of details about the person you're viewing, such as contact information, personal bio, current status, etc. The bottom half of this page consists of different panels of dynamic information. Whenever this person does something in OnePlace, or gets assigned projects or tasks, the information in these panels will change. This area is completely customizable - you can decide which panels you want to see and how you want these panels arranged on the page.

We're really excited about taking this step towards making OnePlace a rich social environment in which your business can collaborate. And it won't end here. We will be adding additional functionality in the coming months for allowing people in your business to connect and share with one another in new and interesting ways.
