Love Your Project Management Software

Posted by Dana Larson on March 25, 2010

I was catching up on my Twitter feeds last week, and I noticed a tweet that caused me to have a rather large reaction:

michellegallen - Use BaseCamp myself, but haven't fallen in love. Perhaps I shouldn't expect love from project management software?

This astounded me. I couldn’t understand why someone would use an additional solution for organization and project management and not love it.

In this case, perhaps the user is using Basecamp because it’s so popular, and they haven’t tried anything else out yet. However, if you were looking for a new project management system, wouldn’t you want to do a bit of extra research and find the solution that is perfect for you?

If you don’t love your project management system, you run a great risk of not using it to its fullest potential. You may not want to stay logged in throughout your workday to keep an eye on your schedule. You probably won’t input all your tasks and manage all your projects, and you definitely won’t use it as a collaboration tool with your teammates.

Just as loving your partner can lead to a happy home life, and loving your job can lead to a happy work life, loving your project management system can increase your happiness in organization and task management. You’ll think positively about the solution, and how best to use it to complete projects and achieve objectives.

And when you’re happy about the tools you use, you can increase your business and personal success.

So make sure you take the time to find the right project management solution for you. It may not be the most popular, the most detailed or the most inexpensive, but the right solution should provide great value to you every day.
