Stay Positive At Work and At Home To Get Through The Tough Times

Posted by Dana Larson on February 19, 2010

positivityThis morning I read an article from Candice Arnold called “A Positive Attitude at Work Could Make Tough Times Easier to Bear”. The article struck me as interesting, as I try to stay positive most of the time, and I try not to let the little things get me down.

But this article went ahead to explain that business owners - while trying to make it through the tough economic times - may be putting on a positivity charade in front of their employees. They may be saying that everything is fine; meanwhile their business is crumbling around them.

On the other hand, business owners shouldn’t fall down the negativity rabbit hole either - all that brings is gloom and doom, and no one is encouraged to get any work done because they feel it’s worthless.

The article summed up this section by saying it’s best for business owners and supervisors to be truthful about the facts of the business. Tell your team that the business isn’t at it’s best, but that you believe you can pull through because you have a great team. This helps build trust in your people and your organization, and everyone will feel accomplished when they work hard to make sure the company continues on into the next year.

All this makes complete sense - especially the way the article ended. It stated that it’s important to balance your work like with your home life. Make sure you find something every day that makes you happy. Find something to love about your job, even if it’s only that you get free coffee every morning. And find something to love about your home life too, such as taking your dog out for a walk or planning a Friday night date every week with your significant other.

At OnePlace, we strongly believe in balancing your work like and your home life to be a successful individual. With our small business organization solution, users can plan out their days around important meetings and completing a project that will bring their companies success up again. But they can also plan aspects of their personal life, too. Schedule in date night, a kid’s choir concert or a daily workout time. Plan your shopping lists and take them with you via OnePlace Mobile.

We want to make sure that people are happy in their personal lives, as well as their professional lives. So if they find themselves in a company that needs a little boost of encouragement, figure out the best way to get the plan of action across and help spread the positive attitude wherever you can.
