Feature Spotlight: Project Reporting
Posted by Denis Ahearn on February 03, 2009
If you are a project manager looking to get information out of OnePlace, one good way to do this is by generating a Project Details report. This report provides high-level statistical information about how work in the project is progressing, as well as information about things inside the project (i.e. discussions, sub-projects, tasks, files, etc.) A handy use for this report is for quickly checking the health of a project. Another good use is for facilitating status meetings.
There are a couple of ways to access this report. The first way is to click on a project you want to report on. Doing so will take you to the project's dashboard. On the dashboard is a panel titled "Project Actions" that contains a button with a printer icon (called out in the screen shot below). Click this button to view the report.

A second way to access the report is by clicking the printer icon in the toolbar that appears when you hover over the title of a project in the project tree. This icon is called out in the screen shot below:

Customizing the Report
OnePlace allows you to customize the contents of the project report. You can do this using the Project Report - Options dialog that appears when you click the report icon. After you click the Submit button to submit your options, the report will open in a separate window in your browser.

Example Report
Here's an example of the Project Details report. The Project Statistics section gives you a high level look at how much work has been completed in the project, and how much work remains. The Resource Utilization section (a new feature coming in the next upgrade of OnePlace) lets you see how work is distributed among your team members, and how each team member is doing with their work assignments. The remaining sections show detail for each type of information you can put into a project, such as sub-project details, tasks, notes, etc.
To print a copy of the report, simply click the Print button at the bottom of the report.
