New Features Released
Posted by Denis Ahearn on December 17, 2009
We released a new version of OnePlace tonight (12/16/09) that was a little over a month in the making. This upgrade contains some pretty cool stuff that we're proud to announce.
Portals
We're excited about this new feature! A workplace can now have a dedicated view called a portal, which has its own url and sign in page. This is useful when you have members of your workplace who only use OnePlace to collaborate with you in that workplace. You can now give them a focused view of the workplace, without all the rest of OnePlace to distract them. The screen shot below shows what a workplace portal looks like.

Enhanced Security Features
A workplace now supports 3 levels of access (permissions) that you can grant a member — full access, limited access and portal access. Likewise, when adding data to a workplace, you can now specify which of those access levels is required to see that data. Data that is visible to limited and portal access members is now decorated with a small "L" or "P", which allows you to easily see what data those members will have access to within a workplace.
Enhanced Email Integration
Our customer have been asking (ok, maybe begging is the proper term) for us to improve OnePlace's support of email. With this upgrade, you can now:
- Email files into OnePlace, including multiple files with one email. Now you can attach files to task and discussion messages!
- Create tasks and notes via email in any workplace and project you like (no longer just your private workplace)
- Specify attributes of a task right in the body of the email
- Email OnePlace using simplified email addresses, such as task@app.oneplacehome.com.

Workplace and Project Overviews
We rejiggered things slightly within a workplace and project, specifically renaming the "Dashboard" tab as "Overview", and adding a "Statistics" tab, which now houses all the charts and stats for the workplace or project you are viewing. The Overview contains a new Status panel, which provides at-a-glance status for a workplace or a project. We also added an Upcoming panel to the workplace overview, which shows tasks and projects in a workplace that have upcoming deadlines. And lastly, we added an About panel to the workplace overview, which shows some high level information about the workplace you might care to know, such as the workplace manager, and whether or not portal and email access is enabled for the workplace.
There are some other nice things in this upgrade that you can read about in the Recent Changes in the online Help.
