You'll Love the Upgrade We Just Did to OnePlace™
Posted by Graeme Thickins on November 17, 2008
In case you haven't noticed yet, we upgraded OnePlace™ yesterday (11/16/08) at 10:45pm CST. It's been nearly two weeks since our last upgrade, but we're sure that, once you see what's in this upgrade, you'll agree the wait was worth it! Here are some highlights:
• The recently announced "TeamCentral" feature just got B-I-G-G-E-R and better! We added two more functions we call TeamSchedule and TeamActivities. (If you're keeping count, that's three functions with TeamPulse!) TeamSchedule is a view into the upcoming work for your team, letting you know what things your teammates have planned. It supports lots of different timeframes, so you can see work that's scheduled for yesterday, today, tomorrow, this week, next week, etc. TeamActivities allows you to see the trail of work that your teammates leave as they work throughout the day. That means you no longer have to guess at what work has been completed. We also enhanced TeamPulse to allow you to direct your pulses. You can pulse to everyone you collaborate with, to a select team (i.e., a Workplace), or to just a single individual. You pulse, and we keep track of it all! (If you're a Twitter fan, remember that pulse=tweet (or update)... but one big difference is that OnePlace™ does automatic, system-generated pulses/updates as well!)
• System notifications now contain data links! Viewing the data you're being notified about is now just a click away. This was one of the most heavily requested enhancements from our users. We're very happy to announce that we also allow you to create your own data links, by using a new data-linking syntax when you are pulsing, replying to discussions, or sending Inbasket notes. We also support permalinks, which are links to data in OnePlace™ that can be emailed around, bookmarked, or entered directly into your browser's url bar. To help you learn all about how these new data links work, we added a "How To Create Data Links" section in Help, which can be found here.
• Navigating to a Workplace just got a whole lot easier. We added a new Workplaces button in the toolbar at the top of the page. This button allows you to quickly jump to any of your Workplaces from any point within OnePlace™.
• Also, adding members to a Workplace got a whole lot easier, too! In addition to typing in email addresses of the people you want to add to the Workplace, you can now use your Address Book to choose members. This avoids having to hand-enter email addresses of people you already collaborate with, or that belong to your team account. And, we enhanced the "Add Workplace Member" dialog to allow you to add multiple people at one time!
• Lots of smaller enhancements and bug fixes.
As always, full details of the upgrade can be found in the "Recent Changes" section in online Help, which is here.
Please keep your suggestions coming! We're always happy to listen to any idea you have for making OnePlace™ work better for you, whether you belong to a team that is enjoying all the collaborative features within the system, or you're just an individual looking to get stuff done more productively. Simply use the "Contact Us" link in the upper righthand corner of the page to send us your feedback.
We love hearing from you! And please remember to subscribe to this blog (click on the orange subscribe icon at upper left). In addition, if you have an account on Twitter, by all means follow us there @OnePlace. Thanks!
