Using OnePlace Lists

Much of the attention on OnePlace centers around all the great collaborative features that enable members of a team to plan out projects and execute on them. However, another cool feature within OnePlace is the Lists feature, which allows teams and individuals to keep track of things using a structured list. Lists are one of the things in OnePlace that work equally well for solo users as they do for teams.
OnePlace currently offers three types of lists you can create:
- Basic lists - lists having a single text field.
- Checklists - lists having a checkbox, a flag, and a text field.
- Shopping lists - lists used to keep track of things you need to buy at the store
Here's an example of a shopping list:

One nice thing about OnePlace lists, is that they can be hierarchical, using something called list groups. This means that you can organize the items in a list into groups and sub-groups, rather than just having a flat list of items. There's no limit to the depth of the hierarchy, so nest groups as deep as you need. Note that the list in the example above has a group titled 'For Grandma', with five things in it.
The mobile version of OnePlace provides full support for accessing and working with your personal and shared lists. This means you can create and delete lists, add and remove items in a list, and organize items in the list into groups.
One very popular way to use lists on your mobile phone, is to access a shared family grocery list while at the grocery store. Here's the same list from above, but shown on the iPhone:

My family has a master grocery list in OnePlace that contains all the items we purchase on a regular basis at the grocery store. Here is how we use this list throughout the week:
- During the week, when we notice we're running low on something, we hop into OnePlace (either on our mobile phone or in the full web version) and flag the item(s) we're low on.
- While at the grocery store, we pull up our shopping list on our mobile phone, and select the "Flagged and Unchecked" list filter. This shows us only the things that are flagged which haven't been checked off the list yet (i.e. not already in the shopping cart).
- As we toss items into our cart, we check them off the list. OnePlace automatically removes the item from the list (it no longer matches the filter), showing us only the things that we still need to get.
- Back home, once we're done shopping, we use OnePlace's list reset feature to get our master shopping list ready for the upcoming week.
OnePlace also allows you to print out a list, which is handy if you don't have mobile access to your lists, or if you prefer to reduce your lists to paper and work with them that way.
Teams can benefit just as much from lists as do individuals. Here are just a few ways we use lists at Riverock for our business:
- Keep track of requirements for a new feature we're working on
- Our customers use lists to communicate their OnePlace wish lists to use.
- Keep track of office snacks we need to buy.
- Keep track of phone numbers important to the business.
